Summer Court House Tours
This summer’s Court House Tours with Unlocking Warwick are well underway on the first Saturdays of the month and some Bank Holidays. The tours are at 11am and last 45 minutes, with two volunteers available so that two tours can take place simultaneously if necessary. They are free to attend on a first-come basis. The tours of the Jury Street building and its immediate surrounds tell the history of the old Court House and Town Hall, from the buildings that occupied this key central site in Saxon times through the Elizabethan era, to the construction of the present stone building after the Great Fire of Warwick in 1694 and its recent refurbishment.
The tours start in the Pageant Garden behind the building, or if it’s wet weather, in the Visitor Information Centre. It may be worth calling the Information Centre to make sure that a scheduled tour is going ahead. 01926 492212.
Note that the tour originally scheduled for 6th August has had to be cancelled because the volunteer tour guide is indisposed and others are on holiday.
The tour dates coming up are: August 29th, September 3rd, September 10th (Heritage Open Day) and October 9th (during the Warwick Words History Festival).
