Court House crests and coats of arms restored!

Over the past two months the painstaking process of restoring the crests and coats of arms on the front of the building above the main entrance has taken place.

The picture below shows the Warwick town crest and surrounding decoration back in December last year – clearly in need of some work!

The crest before restoration began

In line with English Heritage guidelines it was decided to return the crests to their original stone colour (pre 1930’s) and so the layers of coloured paint were removed and the detail repaired. Here’s a conservation worker in action……

Repairs being carried out

Once the repairs had been made the whole thing has had layers of primer and stone coloured paint. Here’s a couple of pictures of the final result taken a few days ago.
