New Chairperson for Unlocking Warwick
At a Special General Meeting of Unlocking Warwick held in the Court House on January 23rd, David Kelham was appointed by an overwhelming majority as the new Chair of the volunteer group after Karen Parker had stepped down from the role.
David is currently the High Sheriff of Warwickshire, supporting many community groups and raising money for charitable causes. His term of office as High Sheriff will end in early April. He lives in Warwick, has a keen interest in its history and is committed to working for the local community.
He said he would be honoured to take up the position as he greatly admires the work of Unlocking Warwick and would hope to facilitate whatever the group chooses to do in the future – to bring people together in the Court House, celebrate its history and encourage visitors to the town.
Rick Thompson confirmed his resignation as the Secretary of Unlocking Warwick because of other commitments. With no-one coming forward to take on the role, the position of Secretary is vacant at present; committee members may take it in turns to perform the secretarial duties for the time being.
The Visitor Information Centre staff will take on the task of compiling and posting online the ‘What’s On in Warwick’ that Rick has been doing for many years.
In March the volunteers will renew their popular socials ‘In The Ballroom’ with a full programme of speakers on the second Wednesday of each month, and there will be a new monthly gathering on the fourth Tuesdays called ‘Ballroom Board Games’. Keep an eye on this website for more details to come.
