Officers Elected
At Unlocking Warwick’s Annual General Meeting on 9th October, Karen Parker and Rick Thompson were re-elected for another year as Chair and Secretary respectively, and Stuart Davies was elected Treasurer. The three officers of the volunteer group have to be elected each year under our constitution as a community association.
In addition, Barbara Wigmore and Celia Baly were voted on to our Management Committee.
The meeting heard reports on the past year from the Chair and Secretary, and from sub-group leaders. It has been a very active year and clearly a successful one for the volunteers, with more Court House Tours conducted and successful events in the ballroom including an eighties evening – “80s Tropicana”, a summer concert by Divertimento, The Jane Austen Tea for Warwick Words, and the annual Christmas Regency Ball.
A notable success has been ‘In the Ballroom’ the monthly social group with a talk or activity, a quiz and tea, coffee and cake. This will continue in 2018 on the first Thursday of each month.
The Town Clerk, Jayne Topham thanked the volunteers for helping in the Visitor Information Centre to cover holidays and staff sickness, and noted the increasing popularity online of the ‘What’s On in Warwick’ long term calendar of events posted on the Visit Warwick and Unlocking Warwick websites.
We have a few new recruits to the volunteer group, which will help us considerably to provide more community events and to help the Town Council attract visitors to the town. The next meeting of Unlocking Warwick will be on Monday 29th January at 7pm in the Court House. If you are interested in joining us, feel free to turn up and say Hello.
