Poppies Galore
Knitted, crocheted, made from felt, there were poppies aplenty at the September edition of ‘In the Ballroom’, the friendly monthly social gathering in the Court House ballroom.
The group activity on September 14th was to make some early contributions to ‘Warwick Poppies 2018’, the ambitious project to create a huge display in St. Mary’s Church to mark the end of World War II next year.
The display featuring many thousands of locally made poppies will be unveiled in October 2018, and will run until early December, as a fitting community tribute to the sacrifices made during the Great War. Any money raised by the exhibition will be shared between the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal and St. Mary’s Church.
You can find out how to make your own poppy for the display at www.warwickpoppies.org.uk
The next edition of ‘In the Ballroom’ will be an Antiques Afternoon on 12th October at 2pm, when you can bring your own items for an expert from Warwick Antiques centre to give his opinion.
