The Warwick Poppies Story Nov 1st
On Thursday November 1st, the social gathering ‘In the Ballroom’ will be hearing all about the amazing poppy display in St. Mary’s Church.
To mark the centenary of the WWI Armistice, a volunteer group appealed for hand-made poppies to decorate the Royal Warwickshire Regiment chapel and the rest of the church. You can hear about the worldwide response in the Jury Street Court House from 2pm to 4pm, and enjoy tea and cake served by the Unlocking Warwick volunteers.
The poppy display in St. Mary’s will be open every day from 10am to 4pm (except during weddings or other services), until December 9th. It is well worth a look. Entry is free, but any donations will go to the St. Mary’s fund and the Royal British Legion.
The monthly welcoming social group, ‘In the Ballroom’ is organised by Unlocking Warwick and Warwick Town Council. it costs just £2 to attend. There’s no need to book, just turn up, enjoy the tea and the talk, and maybe make some new friends.
